ACS 2014 Colloid & Surface Science Symposium


General Information

The ACS Colloid and Surface Science Symposium is a long-running topical meeting bringing together interdisciplinary researchers in academia and industry with a common interest in particles and complex fluids, interfacial phenomena and chemistry, soft-matter science and environmental science. The three-day meeting has two Plenary and two Award lectures, 15 concurrent technical sessions, a poster session and a Banquet. Attendance will be about 700 people, more than half of them students and postdocs.

Meeting Registration is open beginning from 2-6PM on Sunday June 22nd, at Penn's Houston Hall, 3417 Spruce St, Philadelphia, PA 19104

A Welcome Reception for all attendees will be held from 5:30 to 7:30PM on Sunday, June 22nd, at the Singh Center for Nanotechnology, 3205 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104

The Technical Program starts with a plenary lecture by David Weitz, at 8:10 AM on Monday, June 23rd, at the Irvine Auditorium, 3401 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104

In addition to the Sunday Welcome Reception and Monday Poster Session, which will feature light fare and beverages, there will be a Meeting Banquet on Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 9:30PM at the University of Pennsylvania Museum, 3260 South St, Philadelphia, PA 19104. On each of the three meeting days, Monday through Wednesday, box lunches will be provided to all attendees, and there will be a morning and an afternoon coffee break with light snacks.

Information for Oral Presenters

All presentation rooms will be provided with an LCD projector with VGA cable, screen, laser-pointer and microphone. Presenters should plan on using their own computing equipment. You should plan on 2-3 minutes per talk for questions and computer setup: contributed talks have 17-18 minutes of talk time and keynotes have 37-38 minutes.

Information for Poster Presenters

Vertical poster stands will be provided, that can accommodate posters up to 48" wide and 48" high. Pushpins will be provided to attach posters to the stands. You should plan on putting your posters up sometime between 3:00PM and 5:30PM on Monday, on the stand designated with your presentation number as listed in the program, and then taking them down immediately after the session ends at 7:30PM.
